Five Reasons to Own a Home Air Purifier

02 Feb

Air purifiers at home are not optional. Not if you are serious about your health. Why is that? Let me count the ways.

1 – Central heat and air conditioning: Yes, that one reason our homes air becomes so polluted over time. We box up the house and re-circulate the air to either cool or heat it. Dust, bacteria, and germs and all the other airborne pollutants get trapped in the home and its inhabitants are subject to them in ever concentrating amounts without some sort of home air filtration.

2 – We spend way too much time indoors. It is not just the inactivity and sitting on the couch that’s bad for you – its breathing indoor air for hours on end. Indoor air has been found to be as much as 25 times as polluted as outdoor air.

3 – Respiratory diseases such as asthma are on the rise. Even healthy lungs struggle to extract oxygen from the air. In fact they function in large part by trapping particles. Those particulates include things like dust, mold, smoke, bacteria, mites, and chemicals. A home air purifier puts these contaminants in the filter instead.

4 – With the population steadily growing we are now confronted with global flu seasons and of late even genuine pandemics. Despite your best home hygiene efforts how is it those rascally flu bugs find their way into all the members of your family? They’re airborne, that’s how.

5 – Have you been to the doctor lately? Wouldn’t you have rather spent your money preventing that sinus infection as opposed to treating it? Multiply the visits and antibiotics cost times the number of family members treated, the co-pay, time off work and school – and costs add up fast. A home air purifier simply costs less – and proactively works to protect your family.

Air pollutants vary by geography and environment across the globe. In moist climates mold is a significant concern. In drier climates dust and airborne particulates are more common. In large cities smoke, exhaust, and ozone pollutants are more prevalent. There are home air purifiers for each specific type of problem and even some that address multiple combinations of threats.

Bacterial, chemical, smoke, mold, and dust pollutants are mostly invisible and have no odor. Did you realize it was just over 100 years ago that we realized that far more patients survived surgery if the surgeon would simply wash his hands before operating. We now know that things we can’t see or smell can seriously harm us. Its time to act responsibly about cleaning that one thing none of us can possibly avoid coming in contact with – our homes air.
