As we age many of us will be faced with reduced movement due to arthritis and other diseases.
4 WALKING AIDS
There are many aids to help. One of the most common is a walking cane. There are several types of canes to choose from depending on your needs.
The straight stick is for people that just need something to keep there balance and is used as a support while walking. The most common adjustment on this type of cane is for ice and there is an ice grip that pulls down, but people in the southern states would never use that.
The next one is a quad cane which has four feet about 6 inches apart in the form of a square at the bottom of the cane. This cane will stand up by itself and is used where the stability of the person is not good. It gives some balance to the person when he walks and also helps them to get up out of a chair.
It is not good on a rough terrain as all the four corners do not touch the ground and can cause them to loose their balance if the cane is not firmly on its four feet
If you are very unsteady on your feet there is the able cane base which adjust to the surface and is flexible. This cane base is very flexible and is one of the most versatile in the market place. Its flexibility allows all four feet to be on the ground and gives maximum stability.
Rollators are very good for a person who tires easily. It has 4 wheels, brake and if you want to rest it is a comfortable chair to sit in. It also has a basket to carry things in.
